A scary thing happens when you switch from a cardio-based workout routine to a strength training-based one.
You (usually) gain weight.
Terrifying, right?!?
As your body adjusts to the new routine and muscles are being activated in ways they never have before, you’ll likely see an increase on the scale. You might see an increase of 3-5, maybe more, pounds.
The good news is that likely, even though the scale is going up, your jeans are getting baggier and your arms are looking stronger. These are just a couple non-scale victories that come along with a routine change!
If you see an increase on the scale, don’t freak out! You’re building precious lean body muscle that will improve your physique (you will look better naked!), increase your metabolism, and help you burn more fat.
YOUR BODY COMPOSITION WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!!! And, really, does it matter what the scale says if you feel great and you’re rocking a smokin’ hot body?!?
