You might think I work out A LOT, but I really don’t. I’ve even been asked (more than once), how many HOURS I work out per day.
I typically only exercise about 20-45 minutes a day 3-4 times a week.
Instead of spending hours in the gym like I did back in my 20s and 30s, I learned the movements that are best for me and my body and I maximize my workouts to get the best metabolic bang for my buck.
How? I focus on building muscle.
The more muscle I have, the higher my metabolic rate. The higher my metabolic rate, the less time I ‘must’ spend working out.
Muscle helps with:
blood sugar regulation
anti-aging/longevity
metabolic rate
detoxification
and more!
If you’re not currently lifting heavy-for-you weights on a regular basis, you should.
The hours of cardio that kept you lean in college probably won’t work for you now, especially if you’re in your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond.
To get where you want to go today, you’ve got to focus on building muscle.
That’s what I do and, walking into my 41st birthday in what I consider to be the best shape of my life, I recommend you try building muscle too!
